Notebook Battery Lifehack to gain 10-80%? Extra Battery Life
[ad#ad2]
If you’re running Windows XP and you have a notebook computer that you’ve used for any longer than a year - or maybe even shorter than a year, and you notice that you have very little battery time left when you’re not plugged in…
Do this… Go to START menu…
START | Settings | Control Panel | Power Options | Alarms Tab
Uncheck all boxes for battery alarms.
Unplug your notebook if you already haven’t.
Run your notebook until it shuts off.
Plug in your computer and charge it fully - can turn it back on and do so - no difference.
Once fully charged unplug the electric cord.
Run the computer until again it shuts off. Don’t mind the battery meter… it may show 0% battery for 30 minutes… That’s the problem - the operating system thinks it’s ‘0%’, but it’s really not! You might have another 40 minutes of power left.
You can use your notebook as usual, turning it off and on as you need to. You don’t need to run it straight through… just don’t plug in the electric cord until the notebook shuts down by itself because the battery is empty.
Do this cycle as many times as you can (2-3, 10?) before you turn on a battery alarm again. There’s a good chance that your battery will last much longer before your alarm goes off. You definitely will notice a difference in the length of time you can use your notebook with battery when the alarms are off. If it doesn’t last longer - then just keep the alarm off - you’ll need to be a lot more cautious about saving your material as you create it when the battery gets low on the meter - but, to me it’s a fair trade-off. I’d much rather get the extra battery time.

Problem is - Windows tells you the battery is dead before it’s dead. Mine, a Compaq Widescreen Presario V2000 model - which is 20 months old - well, 24 now… Shuts off in 30 minutes if the battery alarms are on!
30 minutes of power!
But, if I don’t turn them on - like now as I’m typing this - I can get 70 minutes of battery power.
Of course I have to save my work often so I don’t lose any of it when the computer does reach the end of the battery and shuts off suddenly - as invariably it will.
TRY IT!
Best of Life!

Phenomenal tip!
Smart, smart Vern!
My laptop keeps hibernating due to the battery alarm,
thought I had a bear on my hands…
more like a temperamental hypochondriac!
Good to know…
Gonna try it out today!
BTW- old post adage, since music effects your moods,
as it does mine… listen to Colbie Calliat (Bubbly)…
see if you don’t feel kind of dreamy and content.
You’ll probably call your girlfriend within 10 minutes…
Give it a try.
Thanks!
