Amazing Experience: Floating in an Isolation Tank!

Amy, a girl wanting to download an e-book I have on one of my other sites left me a note. I promptly visited her blog and found the next post for Aim for Awesome… Floating inside an Isolation Tank! She describes her other-worldly experience for you at her blog.

Here is her original isolation tank experience >

Since I meditated a long time ago I’ve been wondering about using an isolation tank for that purpose. Would it be silent like a cave here in Thailand is? Caves are absolutely quiet. I’ve never experienced life so devoid of sound. There’s only the sound of your breath - like Amy describes while floating in her Isolation Chamber (Tank).

Did you see the movie where the people would go into these altered states of consciousness while floating in isolation tanks? I can’t remember what it was called, I hope it’s not “Altered States” because that phrase popped into my head and it seems appropriate. Was that it?

During deep meditation levels, levels of jhana or whatever you choose to call them there are profound experiences to be had. If anyone has had experience while meditating (focusing on the breath) while inside one of these isolation chambers I’d love to hear about it!

Best of Life!

  1. I’ve floated 100s of times since 2001 when I discovered that floating eliminated my debilitating back pain and gave me my life back. Since then, I float for stress relief, meditation, creativity and brainstorming.

Achieving the theta brainwave state is easy in a floatation tank (it usually takes 35-45 minutes) and when you’re in that state, deep meditation becomes effortless. I’ve tried meditation several times and have been frustrated in my efforts to quiet my mind, but in the floatation tank, it’s so easy as to seem like cheating. Instead of meditating to change my brainwaves. I can float to change my brainwaves and this facilitates effortless meditation.

I’ve had several interesting experiences while in this deep meditative state, but my goal in posting here isn’t to bring attention to myself but to encourage people to give the floatation tank a try. You can learn more about floating at floatforhealth.net

Hi Vern, I too have always wanted to experience one of these tanks. Maybe with your prompting now I will seek it out and do it. I think I can probably find one somewhere in Vegas. If not somewhere in Phoenix I bet… Happy Floating!

  3. I’ve floated twice - loved it both times - can only say that you do not feel your body after a while, and you come out of it very relaxed and refreshed…great before a massage, if you can find a masseuse with one.

  4. I have wanted to try a float/isolation tank but haven’t found one in my area. I wonder if you could build one or if there are building plans on the net. have tried Centerpointe Holosync - have you heard of or tried this before?
    Thanks, Tom

For all of you that say you would like to float, if you go to: http://www.floatation.com/wheretofloat.html it will allow you to hopefully find a facility near you. Unfortunately these facilities are not very common as I do not have one near in Indiana where I live. We used to have one very near by, but it has shut down 6 months ago for unknown reasons. Anyway for anyone looking to float that website should help.
