3-D Baby Preview – in the Womb! An Amazing Experience…

There’s a slight chance that this is not breaking news to you… especially if you had a child recently, you may have contemplated whether you wanted to find a facility that would provide this really cool service… 3-D baby imaging!
[ad#ad2]

The main site I found for this is located in Canada. I realize most of my readers are in the USA, but after all – Canada is just an extension of the USA – yes? HAHHAHA. Joking my friendly Canucks… I realize that it’s an issue of contention. Personally, I love Canada – been there about 8 times – enjoyed every minute.

At these offices you can, for $99-299 Canadian dollars get digital 3-d images put into a movie format and see your baby live inside the womb, sucking his thumb or poking herself in the eye – whatever your baby happens to be doing at the moment. Hopefully not urinating or defecating. Do they do that in utero?

I’m not up to date on these things. Maybe I should research before posting this. Nah, someone will let me know later.

Top right is the image taken from their movie clip – which plays on their site – not this one, click any image above to see their 3dbaby.ca site.

Then just overhead is a foot, face, and another photo obscured. These photos are browseable with Flash in your web browser – quite amazing technology. Giving color and depth to what is usually a very obscure image of your baby given from a routine ultrasound.

No the 3-D images are NOT perfect… but, bottom line…

Would you rather have the images above, or this?

Yeah, me too.

Best of Life!

Hi KWiz, Thanks much for the comment and the caution. I remember going to an ultrasound place once… and you know, I got the feeling the guy doing it was not qualified. This was in Hawaii and at that time I figured anyone that was doing them MUST be qualified. It’s obviously not the case. Thanks for letting us know to be more careful about this! – Vern

    Hi Vern,
3-D imaging during pregnancy is quite phenomenal. I had two when I was pregnant – one at around 30 weeks; the other around 32 weeks. You’ve got to be careful though.

I had a perinatologist – mine was a high-risk pregnancy. My perinatologist, Dr. Lawrence Stone located in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the preeminent ultrasound specialists in the country. Four years ago, there was a news report done here in Atlanta about stand-alone centers that did 3-D ultrasounds, and he, himself, sounded an alarm.

He mentioned that very often, these stand-alone centers are not run by doctors, so the folks who run them have no ultrasound training. So you don’t know whether or not they’ve been trained to know how much radiation they’re placing on the mother, and therefore, the baby. It could be an unhealthy situation.

Instead, he recommends that you ask your OB for the 3-D ultrasound. You’ll pay for it, but at least you’ll be assured that the person doing the ultrasound is qualified to do so.

Here is a link to the news report I’m referring to:

These images are beautiful. You’re seeing your baby for the very first time. It’s very powerful. But please, don’t go to a place that is run by non-qualified personnel. Do your research first.
