Beaches

Poipu Beach Park: This is a large beach – a 2-in-1. There is a division between the two by a sand bar. Kids can play safely on the left. I loved the tidepools here – similar to the northwest shore of Oahu by Dillingham airport. If you get a chance – check out Hawaii’s tidepools – they’re cool!

Polihale State Park – a rather deserted beach, it’s hard to fill it because it is nearly 20 miles long and there just aren’t that many visitors on Kauai at any one time! If you want some peace and quiet – this is your beach. There are some strong rip tides running through the shallow water at this beach – do be careful with kids.

Anini Beach County Park: A picture-perfect beach with a turquoise blue bay and high lava cliffs. This is about a 5 km long beach with the deepest section getting to around five feet deep. If you are looking for snorkeling on Kauai – this is the best location.

Hanalei Beach: One of our favorites – a great place for family!

Airports

Lihue Airport – airport code LIH. This is Kauai’s main arrival airport, but it is so small and quaint that you might think you landed in the wrong place. Nope, this is Kauai!

Port Allen Airport – airport code PAK.
