Swapping Skills to Keep Learning

Learning must never stop. It’s one of those things that helps us get through the game of life easier. The more we increase our knowledge about the world around us the more life becomes easier for us.

Inc Answers eBusiness courses screenshotRight now there are probably a few things you want to learn about online. In a few months I’ll be releasing some ebusiness courses at IncAnswers.com that will help you learn valuable, applicable skills in SEO, building websites easily with WordPress, Twitter use, FTP basics, and other topics – 34 in the basic level and at least 10 in the PRO level courses.

Some of these courses will be free, and some you’ll pay for.

But wait, what about another option?

I saw this ad in Craigslist today that was brilliant. I’d not seen many of these types of requests there before but it’s really the way to go for people that just don’t even have $20-30 to learn about a topic they need to know. Swapping skills.

Here’s the ad:

Dreamweaver Tutor (Honolulu, Hawaii)

I’m looking for someone to teach me Adobe Dreamweaver. I can also in exchange teach you any Final Cut Studio program if interested, or just pay you. I’m looking for someone who is an expert, so please respond with a link to your work and some information about yourself and experience. Thanks.

* Location: Honolulu

Put ads in Craigslist to offer to swap skills you know for other skills. Get together for an hour – and for 30 minutes learn a skill you need to know and for the next 30 minutes teach someone a skill they’re dying to know about.

I can’t count the number of times I wish I had someone to explain the basics – the big picture and how to do some basic (or advanced) things with software programs or a new social media tool online.

Is this a good option for you to try?

Hawaii is a small place and yet, sometimes it’s difficult to meet others that are into the same things you are. This might be a good way to meet other like-minded people on your island.
