I would also like to add that my brother is stationed in Hawaii. He loves it there, and got married. He didn’t have any meaning either so he just went in the marines, i think thats what i’m gonna do.

Life does suck. Especially for a teen in puberty. You have a lot of anger, misery, stress built up inside of you, and one of these days I’m just gonna snap. But i found a outlet. Weed, helps, a lot. And if there was such a thing as Jesus, I’m pretty sure he smoked. He had long hair, he wore mandels, and he had all these great ideas, and that “God” was his father, and his mom was a virgin but had a baby.
But weed helps with the stress, all your problems go away, and the worlds perfect for a while. But this question had me depressed for a year, I’ve even conteplated suiside. I dont think theres a point, we’re just some cruel amusement for some “higher force”.

The Reverand Mele points out “I sure do miss him”, referring to “God”. It’s not God, it’s the fun of not having to be responsible with him in charge that I miss..it takes courage not to believe in a God, in otherwords to be reponsible for yourself. What is the point of life? Believing in yourself. Think about it..from day one the odds are against you. Others would have you believe you’re to large, to oily, to smelly, to sinfilled, to young, to old, to ugly, to dumb, to tall, to dark or not dark enough, the wrong gender, to poor and so on. The whole of your life is spent on proving the “them” (anyone whose not you) wrong. By old age you don’t care if they hate you because you’re beautiful. If you’ve gotten lifes lessons, your reward is, knowing you’re one fine person just as you were born and so is everyone else. It takes a whole life time to learn that. There would be no suicides if we could learn this in our infancy. The point of life might be as simple as irradicating self loathing and perpetuating self acceptance!

Animals have everything you mentioned Hedy. I wish I could have lived without thinking about the why too – it’s a never-ending cause for frustration! lol… :)

I wonder why animals in there natural state don’t have deformities, mental problems or diseases that go on and on. If we were more like them we might not live as long but we wouldn’t worry about it we would just live and then die without thinking about why,

There are a few stages to go through in life:

Life is play (childhood)
Life has no meaning for me (adolescense)
I have found meaning in my life (adulthood)
My life has more meaning when I help others (maturity)

Agreed… life simply is – whether there is an existential point or not… I have no idea about the “why” of life. Why we’re here. What we should be doing… These are unanswerable in my present state of existence.

But, what are you doing with your life Andy? If you let go of the idea that there’s a point at all – a personal point, then you give up focusing on – and moving toward whatever it is that you think is important. Is there something worth focusing on? Is it your happiness? Your accomplishments? Your beer?

Cool project Vern. I sometimes wonder if it’s even necessary for life to have a point.

I don’t mean to say that “life is pointless,” or such. I just think that life IS, no matter what we may want to think about it. Whatever we wish life were about – what we want its point to be – life simply is.

Maybe part of life is just to let go of needing to think there’s a point at all.
