Incorporation helps your business primarily in two ways…
1. Your personal assets like personal savings account, house, cars, boat, electronics equipment and anything you own – are better protected when you have incorporated your business. When you’re incorporated a court of law separates you and your business into 2 distinct tax entities – and one is not responsible financially for the other… as long as you abide by the IRS rules of keeping them separate.
2. Incorporation gives you some respect, clout, and standing in the community. If you say – I’m Joe Blow, I sell cars… and you don’t have a business name to put on your business card and other marketing material – you don’t look like you have your act together. Banks and other lenders may have issues with lending you money. People may take issue with buying from you. It’s called, “playing the game”. A business has a business name. A business in incorporated.
