Big Island’s Volcano Eruption Effect on Oahu?

Big Wave - Like Tsunami

Looks like half a million people would die. Not from the lava. Not from the unbreathable air.

The resulting tsunami that would occur when huge amounts of land fell off the wall of the volcano into the Pacific Ocean would devastate Oahu, not to mention Maui and the other islands.

National Geographic did a ‘what if’ hypothetical situation that is enough to scare you to death if you live on Oahu. They do say during the course of the video that we should expect a tsunami like this now that the water levels are higher due to the warm climate of the earth.

Here is the amazing video of Oahu losing half it’s population fast:

Oh – almost forgot, they said this can be expected within the next 10 to 20,000 years. ;)

Still, tomorrow is within that time period, you know?

  1. Lol well yeah the beach is awesome…and addictive. A calling I guess?

Oh yeah, I just dropped an email. Not sure if you’ve got the time to read it but there you go XD

Oh yeah, and congrats on not getting yourself killed…it would’ve been a bummer for me to climb up that dang mountain for nothing

Hi Clarissa – Thanks for commenting! I wrote you email moments ago. Digging your blog too.

I was on Patong Beach in Phuket – daily for the 90 days prior to the Tsunami of 2004. I would walk the beach every morning from 7am – get some coffee… sit on the beach. Until 10-11am.

Two days after I left to go to stay at a Buddhist temple in Thailand’s northeast – the tsunami hit – killing hundreds there.

So why do I STILL live at the beach?

ahhhh, fate comes regardless – right?

Cheers! Catch up with me on email when you get a chance.

  3. VERN!!! WAZAAAAA
I found your website and it’s awesome XD
The video’s sorta freaky though, specially since I still can’t get the 2004 tsunami out of my head (We visited the beach the day before, dang)
