I've lived Hawaii since the mid '80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived sight-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about 6 months worth of savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early '90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.
The concept of the “Aloha Spirit” has been marginalized and passed around for pennies that it’s nothing more than smooth-sounding marketing fodder. Given the constant cycling of first/once-timers the vanilla aspect and sleepiness gets glossed over by profit potential. I could be overly pessimistic but let’s see a snowstorm come through and how many people would be braving the unfamiliar non-perfect scenario to perform some aloha by helping shovel neighbors out though running late for work. It’s not the people of the place but the complacency and spirit-blindness from routine.
