Successful Non-Business Blog Topics, Part 2

This is part 2/2 about Non-business focused blogs and what topics could be successful on big scale. Read part 1 here.

8. Healthy Eating. Goes along with losing weight, but you could focus your blog on eating the right foods. Everyone is concerned about chemicals in fertilizers, bug sprays, genetically engineered food, and the effects certain foods have on fat, cholesterol and other things. This is also a great niche. Vegetarian eating or raw food diets would be excellent sub-niches to focus on.

9. Fitness. I’ve been fit all my life and I couldn’t imagine being in a state where I”m not. For many people it’s a dream. If you can bring the dream to people by showing them easy ways to get started, continue, and get addicted to exercise you can be blog-rockin’ in a year.

10. Bad Habits. Smoking, drugs, drinking, swearing, nail biting, and other habits can be the focus of a successful blog. Helping people with problems – especially when millions have the problem can lead to a successful blog.

11.Weird stuff. Here in Thailand we have “ladyboys”. They’re guys that dress like women, and many times get operations to remove male parts and enhance other parts to be more female. Ladyboys here are a phenomenon unlike any other. Blogs about ladyboys do well. What other out of the ordinary topics could you cover? Piercings? Fetishes? What unique group of individuals could you blog about? Weird stuff works.

12. Doom. Conspiracy theories, end of the world, comets hitting the earth, super volcanoes, plagues, etc. Fear of things that haven’t happened yet, but that are possible are great motivators and people love to fill their heads with it. Fill their heads more with your blog about the doomiest things you can come up with.

13. Sex. Just about anything in the world of sex makes for an interesting topic with a captive audience. Sex sells and sells and sells. If it’s free on your blog – it will get a lot of eyeballs. Women, men, homosexuals of all sorts can blog to their own little audience… and if you do it a lot, and you do it well – you can have a tremendously successful website.

14. Humor. You may not be funny, but you know funny when you see it. That’s all that’s really necessary. Your blog can be a collection of funny articles, mp3′s, cartoons, and videos you find online. I had a site years back called Silly2.com. I got around the problems with silly.com because I called the site “Silly Squared”. Like it was so much more funny than silly. I had more traffic to that blog than maybe any other I had back then. I sold it for a premium.

15. Tragedy (News). If you can consistently find the most tragic things going on across the USA, or across the globe and blog about it you can build a large following. In fact, just about any news blog that collects niche-specific information consistently over time will gain a decent following from surfers who love to read about those topics. Newspapers are dying because online news is where everyone’s going for news. Go figure. A great area to get into.

I didn’t talk about monetization of blogs focused on these things – but there are plenty of options for each one. Actually, I created this list with the idea that for a blog to be successful it would have to gain a high traffic count and have great ways to make money. All of these areas qualify.

If you need help with how you’d monetize a topic – ask in the comments section I’ll be happy to help.
