For most people vacationing in Hawaii, all it takes is one trip to the grocery store or a quick scan of the real estate classifieds to get hit with extreme sticker shock. Yes, not only is it super expensive to live here, but most jobs pay significantly less than their mainland counterparts. So the inevitable question arises: how do you folks do it?
Our local girl Aina was born and raised here and took many of these things for granted. Now she shares them with you.
I will be, hopefully, working at Queen’s Medical Center. We are looking at places to live but have no clue about traffic conditions around there. Found some nice places in Ewa but don’t know how the drive will be to/from work. Any guidance? Thank you!
Google maps has a feature where you can see the time it takes to get to some place at a certain time. See how long it takes to leave from the place you found in Ewa if you have to get to Queens by say 8:00 a.m.
Thank you for all of your posts/videos Peter. My family and I are in the process of interviewing in Honolulu and are excited about the possibility of relocating there within the next 3-4 months. We are nervous but anxious about this next chapter in our lives.
That’s totally awesome! How exciting!
