Are There Bugs in Hawaii?

Navigation:/, The Bad/Are There Bugs in Hawaii?

Sure there are bugs! There are good bugs and bad bugs. Luckily Hawaii doesn’t have too many bad insects and other creepy crawlies to be aware of, but there are some. Surprisingly, or not, there are a lot of people that are deathly afraid of bugs – even those that can’t really cause much grief. Some people are horrified of ants. Others, like me, spiders. I just cannot deal with spiders.

Some, who would like to move to Hawaii, avoid doing so because they have heard outrageous stories about the bug problem. Is it as bad as all that?

I wrote up an overview of some of the major pests to be aware of in Hawaii – and how to avoid them.

Have a look:

Are the cockroaches THIS BIG in Hawaii?

About the Author:

I’ve lived Hawaii since the mid ‘80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived site-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about $5k in savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early ‘90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.

I’ve actually thought if I had my life to live over again I would do just what you did–move there and just live. Find a way.

What’s stopping you from doing that now? You don’t need to wait for reincarnation. You have one life to live and this is it.
